Fire Chief Steve Watson stands as a beacon of dedication and excellence in the field of firefighting, with eight years of unwavering service and a track record of exceptional achievements. Since taking the helm as Fire Chief in 2019, he has continued to lead with distinction, inspiring his department and community through his exemplary leadership and remarkable accomplishments.
Born and raised in Hazel Green, Steve Watson was instilled with a strong sense of community and public service from a young age where he began his firefighting career as a rookie firefighter, wholeheartedly embracing the physical and emotional demands of the job. Chief Watson was honored as Rookie of the Year, an award that foretold a promising career.

In 2016, he was promoted to the role of Fire Officer. As an officer, he demonstrated exceptional leadership and a calm demeanor in high-stress situations, earning the distinguished title of Officer of the Year followed by Captain of the Year in 2017.

In 2019, Steve Watson was appointed as the Fire Chief, a role he has embraced with dedication and vision. As Fire Chief, he has led the department with a strong focus on firefighter safety, community engagement, and operational efficiency. Under his leadership, the department has continued to excel, saving lives and property through effective firefighting and rescue efforts.
